Explore every option in the Word Game Settings Menu and learn what each feature does. From gameplay preferences to accessibility and customization options, this guide explains how the right settings can improve your experience and help you enjoy every Wordle Unlimited session your way.

Hello! I have been playing the word game on wordleunlimited.dev for several months now and the truth is – the settings menu is one of the most rarely discussed elements which still allow you to make your gaming experience customized. Generally speaking, word games either don't offer you any kind of customizable options or put them inside several sub-menus. Here, everything is in one menu and I like it a lot. That is why I decided to explain what features it offers, one by one.

Location of the Settings Menu

The menu is available through a gear icon located in the top right corner of the game, that is where your thumb naturally goes when you hold the game on your phone. Clicking the gear icon brings you to a nice scrollable list of menu elements. There are no tricky toggles which you wouldn't understand what do they mean or any "advanced settings" or any hidden sub-menus. This is an unusual approach which the developers have chosen, creating the game which should look premium and include a lot of menus. Not here!

Theme: Light, Dark or Auto

There are three themes available in the "Theme" field – Light, Dark and Auto. I use the Auto theme because the game theme is automatically adjusted according to the system theme of your phone and you can change it to the dark mode when it is late. I like the light theme because it is clean and looks very newspaperish and thus it is perfect for daytime gaming. But the dark theme is good for bedtime gaming as well. The funny thing is that the chosen theme is saved by your browser and you won't have to set it again and again each time you open the game page.

Word Length: From Kids Mode to 7-Letter Words

That one is my favorite because it changes the game difficulty. You can choose among 3-letter words (Kids), 4, 5, 6 or 7 letters. I use 5 because it is the classical one, but sometimes I use 7 and I must say that it is much harder to guess a word in 6 attempts. However, the Kids mode was designed for parents and I gave the game to my nephew in 3-letter mode – he loved it.

Hard Mode: For Those Who Want More Challenges

Hard mode limits you with only one rule – if some letters were placed or misplaced correctly then you must use them in your next attempt. So, you will have to think before making a step. It was hard for me in the beginning but after using the hard mode for a week in a row, my skills improved greatly and I started solving faster. Thus, if you want to improve your gaming skills then the hard mode is for you.

Hints: The Bulb Icon

If you use hints option from the settings menu, then you will see the little bulb icon above the game while you are playing it. Up to 2 hints are available during each game session and each hint tells you something about one letter of the secret word. I use hints only when I play the time mode, but generally speaking I prefer not to cheat. But new players should definitely use hints to learn the game faster.

High Contrast: A Must-Use Option

High contrast mode changes the standard colors of tiles from green and orange into the colors which are easier to be distinguished by people with color blindness. This feature is usually included into web games as a simple checkbox and it is usually ugly and makes the game less attractive. But here the colors look good and if you are playing the game in bright sunshine then high contrast mode makes tiles more visible.

Sounds: Turn It On or Off

The sounds toggle controls the key taps sound as well as winning/losing sound effects. I usually play the game on the public transport and I don't want strangers to know that I solved the puzzle in 3 attempts. That is why I keep the sounds off. But if you play the game in your room, then the sound effects add additional feeling of winning/losing the round.

Language/Region

This option allows changing the word dictionary to some English variant and it is important because sometimes the British and American spelling is different and you may have such problems as "not a word". The game automatically adjusts all words when you use this option.

Conclusion

The truth is that the settings menu on wordleunlimited.dev is a great example of how to make things simple but functional. Every single toggle from the menu is a real feature which solves real problems – from parents who want the kids-friendly version to competitive players who want the hard mode restrictions. There are no useless features added just to increase the amount of choices. If you haven't tried the gear icon yet then it is the right time to do it!
